We are looking for land stewards or small-scale farmers to live, love, and tend our beautiful farmstead in Vershire, Vermont, open to long term lease for the right people. Perfect for someone who wants a small farm surrounded by incredible biodiversity that's 25 minutes from Hanover, NH, and 5 minutes from Chelsea, VT where there's a small town vibe and amazing little farm store.
The property: 32 acres, 15 of which are rolling fields and meadows that have always been hayed organically and have been left as biodiverse meadow for the past three years, 15 of which are woods with a magical stream just right for kid adventures. Spring-fed swimming pond (with trout). Views from the house down the valley. Established perennials, maple trees, orchard, which has been gardened organically since the 1960s, no pesticides ever. Feels remote but the neighbors (amazing, progressive people) are not far at all, 1/3 mile driveway and then you're right in Vershire Center, so no worries about mud season!
The dwellings: We have two houses which need rentals; one is a beautiful, handbuilt, 4BR/2bath house with newly done kitchen and Viessmann boiler, radiant floors. The other is a detached building with newly renovated studio apartment and separate upstairs room for yoga studio/art studio. Both the main house and studio are modestly furnished with mid-century vintage and well loved furniture.
Location: Right off route 113 in Vershire center. 5 min from Chelsea where you could sell flowers at Free Verse Farm Shop, 8 min from Pema Osel buddhist center and 5 min from The Mountain School.
Details: We are looking for renters for both houses together, or one or the other. The whole shebang would be perfect for private people who want more space or in-law potential; or, if you only want a smaller space then you'd have close by neighbors who shared the property but we'd come up with a workable arrangement depending on your land needs.
We aren't selling -- but looking for someone who will love the land and home as much as we do and make use of it in holistic and regenerative ways.
