Black Dirt Farm is an agroecological farm in Stananrd. We collect discarded food from off of the farm, which then kicks of a series of integrated enterprises on the farm, including raising laying hens for eggs and meat, making compost and worm castings, and growing crops. This Route Operator position will operate two of our food scrap collection routes. The Route Operator's task is largely conducted off of the farm, collecting discarded food from 15-25 customers each days (75-95 containers on average). We do this in a Ford 550 towing a 10-yard dump trailer equipped with a hydraulic lift that picks up and dumps the containers into the trailer. The Route Operator screens each container for trash, and washes them with a pressure washer. The Route Operator is a carbon-crusader, capturing food scraps to build soil with and bank carbon to prevent the further accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This is an exciting and dynamic job for those who welcome hard work and like to see outcomes from their work. Black Dirt Farm is committed to cultivating a thriving work culture in addition to a thriving farm system, and aspires to create a work environment that draws on the unique capacities and experiences of each person. Working here requires individuals to be equally committed to these outcomes as well. For more information, please visit our website www.blackdirtfarm.com/employment
