Name an experience that changed the course of your life
After I graduated high school I took a year off before going to college and traveled for six months. I went to India, Nepal, Thailand, Fiji, Australia and New Zealand. During these six months I realized that I wanted to go into the environmental field and gained much more direction in my life. I gained life experiences that I never could have had if I had gone directly to school. I think this gave me time to mature and think about what I really want to do with my life.

Work Experience
I have worked on a few different organic farms in Peru, Australia, and New Zealand in exchange for room and board and I am very active at our school's organic farm. I have worked with livestock as well as harvesting fruits and vegetables and food cleaning and preparation.
What do you hope to take away from an experience working on an organic farm?
I hope to gain first hand experience working on an organic farm and take away enough knowledge to eventually start my own farm someday. Specifically I hope to learn more about crop rotation, companion species and what farms do to mitigate harmful impacts on the surrounding environment.
Education
I am currently a junior and environmental studies major at Saint Michael's College and will be graduating in spring 2019. I have taken many different courses on environmental science, water geography and quality, and sustainable agriculture and am very interested in working on and someday owning a farm.
