Join the NOFA-VT Board of Directors!

September 2, 2025

Do you believe agriculture can help heal the planet while supporting farmers and eaters? Do you want to see a more just and sustainable food system—and believe we already have the tools to make it happen?

We’re currently seeking self-nominations and recommendations for NOFA-VT’s Board of Directors. As the governing body of NOFA-VT, the board meets throughout the year to guide our activities and shape the strategic direction of our organization.

A majority of our board is made up of farmers, farmworkers, and food system workers, and maintaining that leadership is core to who we are. We’d love your help identifying excellent candidates—or hearing from you directly if you’d like to serve.

To make a nomination, email NOFA-VT’s Executive Director, Grace Oedel, at [email protected].

What is a Board of Directors?

The Board of Directors is the governing body of NOFA-VT. Our board oversees and discusses the activities and strategic direction of NOFA-VT to ensure that our organization stays laser-focused on its mission. The Board meets 4 times/year with optional committee work in between full-board meetings. Board members serve 3-year terms.

Why Serve on NOFA-VT’s Board?

  • Influence the direction of Vermont’s organic farming movement!
  • Ensure NOFA-VT is delivering on its mission: promoting organic practices to build an economically viable, ecologically sound, and socially just Vermont agricultural system that benefits all living things
  • Connect with other people working on issues you care about

Note: We provide a small stipend of $575/year as well as child care and travel reimbursement to board members in an effort to make board service more accessible.

Who Is NOFA-VT Looking For?

We are seeking a diversity of experiences and perspectives across the agricultural system.

We have a majority farmer/farmworker/food systems worker-led board, and that remains important to us in our board composition.

We’re eager to hear from anyone who is interested in serving, and we’re especially interested to hear from people who:

  • work on farms but don’t own farms
  • have interacted with local food access programs in a variety of ways
  • have personal or professional land access experience

We Want to Hear From You!

To learn more about the experience of serving on the board or formally express your interest in a board seat, please email Grace Oedel, NOFA-VT Executive Director, at [email protected].
