The Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE), based in Hardwick, VT, seeks a Grants Manager to help the organization achieve its annual fundraising goals. This position is responsible for pursuing and managing restricted funds that support CAE’s enterprises and programs; in 2024 this makes up about $1.4 million out of our $3.8 million annual budget. This role calls for a high level of organization and project management, excellent writing and communication skills, and meticulous record keeping.

The Grants Manager works closely with the Executive Director and the Finance Manager to develop strategies for restricted funds/programming, and is responsible for following this plan with support of the Development team and program staff. Restricted funds are primarily generated through public and private grants that include formal application and reporting processes. The Grants Manager maintains a multi-year grant calendar for long-term forecasting, as well as shorter term work plans to ensure no deadlines are missed and identify where support is needed during busy periods. As grants are received, the Grants Manager keeps track of required reporting and supports the Finance Manager and program staff in the completion of necessary reports. CAE strives to incorporate ethical fundraising principles into our work by building relationships with funders, encouraging support to our partners, and sharing our work through stories that are mutually beneficial.

The Grants Manager is part of the Development and Communications team, which is supported by a Board Development & Communications Committee. If you enjoy a well-built spreadsheet, well-organized file drives, and a good potluck - this could be a great team to work with!
