The Livestock Superintendent is responsible for conducting livestock-related farming operations at the Northeast Crop and Livestock Research Station (NECLRS) at Nordic Farm in Charlotte, VT. NECLRS operates on 400 acres of leased land within a larger privately-owned farm. Research explores diverse subject matter spanning the food and farming systems of Vermont, including stand-alone livestock research in addition to integrated crop-livestock projects. The Livestock Superintendent leads livestock operations in support of research with beef cows, calves, and finish steers as well as livestock-grazing and crop-integration. In field experience should include working as a livestock consultant, manager, or leader of livestock operations on a commercial or research farm, including significant livestock interaction, heavy equipment operation, and planning.
This position requires skill working with ruminant livestock, precisely following animal welfare and research protocols, communication with colleagues and scientists, and detail-oriented record keeping.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position with full benefits.
