Housing Available!!
The studio apartment is available on our farm starting December 1st ! This apartment is
located over our shop looking out over farm fields. There is a functional kitchen and
bathroom. It is the perfect space for one person, although it has housed a couple for the
past two years! In exchange for living here, we ask for approx. 20 hours of farm work
weekly. This includes weekend work as well. At this time, we are not able to
accommodate dogs but well-behaved cats are OK! If you want to work on the farm full-
time, we are happy to discuss that as well. Please see our farm description for more
information about what the farm work will include.
FARM DESCRIPTION
Pigasus Meats is a pasture-based livestock farm located in South Hero, VT. Our on-
farm studio apartment will be open beginning December 2025. We have a flock of 75
ewes as well as a 25-sow farrow-to-finish operation. We provide feeder piglets to
commercial operations, as well as finishing market hogs for ourselves. All animals are
on pasture in the growing season and on deep-bedded pack in the winter months. We
sell our products in local and regional markets.  We strive to actively manage our
animals across our fields and forested land in a way that enhances and improves
biological diversity and functions as well to benefit the ecosystem. Landscape design
principles such as keyline design influence our pasture management practices and soil
health considerations. We aim to operate at a scale that provides a substantial amount
of food to our local food shed at an appropriate cost. A main tenet of our operation is to
provide the best life possible for the animals by allowing them to express their natural
pig and sheep behaviors.  We are constantly learning, making mistakes, and working to
improve our systems to meet the goals above.
