The federal government is rewriting the rules around applying for and receiving grants and other financial assistance from USDA and other agencies. The proposed changes would make the process more political, more administratively burdensome, more confusing, and less reliable. We’ll walk through the most critical points for the farm and food system community.  Farm Commons will share its organizational perspective on how the rule changes shape our organization’s decision-making around federal grants. Join us to begin identifying the concerns, risks, and unanswered questions the proposal raises for your work.

This proposed rule was published in the Federal Register by the Office of Management and Budget on May 29, 2026. It is separate and additional to the new USDA terms and conditions discussed earlier this spring in a Farm Commons webinar. We’ll share additional resources to help you prepare meaningful, fact-based comments on the rule before the July 13 deadline for submitting comments.

This session is educational and it is designed for farmers, nonprofits, and ag service providers that seek USDA-administered grant and other funding. At registration, look for the opportunity to tell us any specifics about what you are hoping to learn in this program.

This program will be recorded. A link to the recording will be sent to everyone who registered and posted at our website.

By registering for this webinar, you agree to receive communications from Farm Commons. If you’d like to opt out, please email Farm Commons at [email protected]
