Freedom & Unity is about getting input. What do working Vermonters think about our future? “Hard tellin', not knowin'!” 2026 is about throwing country concerts and inviting hard-working people to meet us there. Concerts come with providing very affordable tickets and food, a kids program, and complimentary entry and dinner for veterans, farmers, nurses, and volunteer fire departments.
Then we come back to interview them and other community leaders they recommend in ‘27.
These conversations are essentially about 3 things:
- The problems they see in Vermont
- What they think should be done about it
- What would they need to be able to work on those solutions with other people in Vermont.
Lifelong Vermonters talk about how the power brokers and everyone else ignores them when they’re not pouring craft beer or running a ski lift. But we’re paying attention. We’re bringing country dance parties and a touch of revolutionary Vermont history as a gesture of friendship. Our events are free for some of the people that represent what Vermont is and needs. We’re looking forward to coming back to talk about the things that are important to them and see if there are opportunities to work together to fix some problems.
We want to work with Vermonters to stabilize economic systems. Agriculture and land use, forestry, and skills-based education are on the table, but what we do will depend on what everyone tells us when we come back to talk. We’re going to start with a bunch of great times, and build common ground on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. We’ll be shining a light on the largely unknown leadership and ingenuity of the Green Mountain Boys, and their pivotal role in shutting down the British Army.
After we hear what should be done to keep our state out of the skillet, we’ll process all that information from all those people to develop a proposal to work together on the key common solutions from the interviews. We are making a run at economic organizing in the communities that keep Vermont running.
The concerts are themed around the Revolutionary War, Vermont Independence and the Green Mountain Boys, and a bit of the notion that our neighbors do more for us than rich politicians from any side of the fence. And fun. That’s it.
