Join us for an immersive, farmer-focused agroforestry workshop that will begin to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to design agroforestry systems for your own farm!
The morning will delve into the history, principles, and practical applications of agroforestry, focusing on creating resilient, biodiverse, and economically viable landscapes. Explore how agroforestry fits within the broader context of a working farm, enhancing productivity and sustainability while supporting the needs of farmers and the environment.
The afternoon will focus on developing an approach to assessing a farm landscape to identify appropriate sites for agroforestry projects. We will explore Vermont geology and the role soils and landscape characteristics play in designing agroforestry systems tailored to your land. Field walks at Breadtree Farms and Smokey House Center will provide real-world examples of successful agroforestry designs, allowing you to see silvopasture and forest farming systems in action.
Whether you're an experienced agroforester or a farmer beginning to explore the idea of integrating trees into your landscape, this workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of the foundations of agroforestry systems.
