This two-day training at the VTSU Randolph Campus is designed for individuals working in both conventional and organic agriculture, as well as landscaping, forestry, and pest management. Participants will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to responsibly apply pesticides in compliance with Vermont regulations.
The course expands upon initial pesticide certification training and includes hands-on learning and in-depth discussion to help participants prepare for certification or earn 9 continuing education credits.
Instruction includes:
- Review of the Northeast Core Manual and Vermont Rule for Control of Pesticides
- Label evaluation and interpretation
- Equipment calibration and rate calculations
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) use
- Risk assessment
No pesticides will be applied by students during this course.
Participants will have the option to take the Vermont Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Exam on-site, administered by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets. Additional exams and fees may be required to complete full certification and licensing. Must have a valid driver's license to sit for the exam.
