Weather Network & NEWA Training Day
Weather information can be a powerful farm-management tool when it comes from where your crops are actually growing.
Join Terence Bradshaw, Director of the UVM Horticulture Research and Education Center, for a hands-on grower training focused on getting more from on-farm weather stations.
Participants will learn about weather station installation and maintenance, using local weather data for frost protection, and applying weather information to pest and crop-management decisions. The training will also introduce Cornell's Network for Environment and Weather Applications (NEWA) and how on-farm weather data feeds its crop and pest-management models.
The training is part of the Orleans County Farm Weather Resiliency Network, an initiative working to expand Northeast Vermont's network of on-farm weather stations and provide growers with better access to hyper-local climate information and decision-support tools.
