Donate through your retirement account

Donating directly from your IRA or IRA Rollover account is a simple, impactful way to support NOFA-VT while reducing your taxable income! If you are over 70½, you can make a Qualified Charitable Contribution (and if you are over 73, these count toward your Required Minimum Distribution). Procedures vary depending on the firm that holds your IRA account. You may donate up to $108,000 to NOFA-VT from your IRA or 401k account without it being counted as taxable income.

You will likely need NOFA-VT’s Tax ID number, 22-3260420, and our address: PO Box 697, 14 Pleasant St., Richmond, VT 05477. Please reach out to Erin Buckwalter at 802-419-0043 f you have any questions or need additional information.

You can also plan to gift your entire IRA account by naming NOFA-VT as the beneficiary.

Donate gifts of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds

Donating through your stock, bond, or mutual fund accounts is a tax-wise way to contribute to NOFA-VT. Especially if you own investments that have increased significantly in value, a gift of appreciated stock can be one of the most tax-efficient ways to donate. When you donate appreciated stock directly to NOFA-VT, you can generally avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation. NOFA-VT receives the shares directly and can sell them without paying tax, allowing more of the assets to support the mission you care about.

Please direct gifts of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds to our account details below, and please notify us of your gift so that we can ensure proper credit!

Learn how to leave a legacy

NOFA-VT is actively working toward a more just, equitable, resilient agricultural system that we all need and deserve. As we plan toward this future, you can help nurture our mission through your own legacy by making a planned gift. A planned gift, also called a legacy gift, is a donation that is arranged during a donor’s lifetime and allocated at a future date.

There are many ways to leave a lasting impact in your community by making a planned gift to NOFA-VT, and you can visit our Planned Giving Toolkit to learn more about what option might work best for you and your plans.
