Local grain enthusiasts in VT are invited to join NOFA-VT for this tour of Granite Grains as part of a two-part immersive workshop series on Vermont’s growing grains and flour value chain. (Note, this tour, along with the Champlain Valley Grain Center tour, is intended as a series, but it’s not required to attend both. Todd Hardie and Tyler Murray will be at both workshops, so if you can only attend one, you’ll still have an opportunity to meet them both.)

This tour takes place on Friday, May 29th, at Granite Grains in West Haven, VT–an old dairy farm that was recently purchased and converted to rye and wheat fields by farmer Tyler Murray. We’ll enjoy lunch together (BYO, with additional snacks provided), meet Tyler, and tour the farm while we discuss all things grain growing–why grains, why now, why here?

Bring your curiosity, questions, and desire to learn more about the grain chain in Vermont!

This field trip is great for those interested in grain farming and increasing access to local grains in area schools.

This course is eligible for 2 hours of USDA professional development credit for topic areas 1130 and 1320.

Workshop Agenda:

12:30-1:30 pm: arrival at the farm, BYO lunch (snacks provided)

1:30-3:00 pm: farm tour

3:00-3:30 pm: wrap up circle & final Q&A
