Starting wage: $18/hour, based on experience 
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm 
Full-time and Part-time positions are available 
Benefits: Health insurance (FT only), paid holidays, vacation/sick time accrual, and a monthly meat benefit, PPE allowance. 

SANITATION WORKER 

The Sanitation Worker oversees the cleaning, sanitizing, and health-safety of the entire facility.  

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • - Follows established cleaning procedures to ensure food safety regulation compliance 
  • - Performs sanitation duties in the processing facility, including the slaughter and processing equipment, any safety items, and the walls ceilings, and floors of the facility 
    - Ensures the facility complies with USDA FSIS & HACCP requirements 
    - Other duties as assigned 

Applicant Qualifications:

  • - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in wet, and hot or cold areas, with slippery floors 
    - Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a group  
    - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately 
    - Positive attitude and willingness to learn 

MEAT CUTTER / BUTCHER 

The Meat Cutter/Butcher assists with carcass processing and meat packaging. 

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • - Butchering animal carcasses using knives, hand saws and blades, and other meat cutting equipment  
    - Daily inspection of carcasses 
    - Confirming requirements federal Bacterial and antimicrobial completion of processed meat  
    - Packaging of meat products 
    - Other duties as assigned 

Applicant Qualifications:

  • - Must be able to lift 50-100 lbs and work in a refrigerated environment 
    - Ability to safely handle and use sharp knives, hand saws, saw blades, and meat process equipment 
    - Willingness to follow food safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment 
    - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow directions as a team member 

 

LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTER ASSISTANT 

The Slaughter Assistant performs all tasks related to the humane handling and processing of cows, sheep and pigs.   

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • - Assist with unloading and labeling of all trailered animals 
    - Maintain the health and safety of the animals while penned 
    - Assist in the humane slaughter of all animals 
    - Processing carcasses and hides 
    - Packaging meat products 
    - Cleaning the slaughter and processing equipment, safety items, the facility 
    - Other duties on assigned 

Applicant Qualifications:

  • - Must be able to lift 50-100 lbs and work in a hot, humid environment with strong odors 
    - Ability to take direction and work as a team member 
    - Ability to follow food safety practices 
    - Positive attitude and willingness to learn

We are seeking an enthusiastic educator, who is passionate about place-based education, to support our Education Programming, such as School Field Trips and Homeschool programs

Duties include:

  • -Support the teaching of our Education Programming, such as our Field Trips for visiting schools and Homeschool --Programming.
  • -Lead groups of varied sizes, from early childhood through upper grades
  • -Provide a welcoming, fun, and safe space for students
  • -Present inquiry-based lessons and curriculum and encourage learners to engage with the farm
  • -Assist in set up and clean up of materials

 

This is a seasonal position, 5-10 hours weekly (frequently in the mornings), from October to May. The Field Trips and Homeschool Educator is an hourly position with benefits including sick time accrual, retirement contributions, fresh produce, and a 20% discount to our farmstand and café. Pay range is $15-$16 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Position Summary:

High Mowing Organic Seeds is a leader in the organic seed, farming, and food community. We value our unique opportunity to meet the growing demand for professional-quality organic seeds. We seek an experienced sales representative to build new relationships and deepen existing relationships with customers, broaden our exposure and grow our revenue. This position is primarily focused on selling to resellers of our seed through both inbound and outbound channels.

Responsibilities:

Maximize sales and manage relationships with existing wholesale accounts.

Build relationships with potential customers and sell wholesale products in these new markets.

Develop expert knowledge of High Mowing’s wholesale programming options.

Develop a breadth of knowledge about the varieties of vegetables, flowers, and herbs that High Mowing Organic Seeds sells, and be able to speak to basic gardening timetables and processes.

Provide daily, weekly, and quarterly reporting on new and existing accounts and progress made towards budget goals.

Share trends and insights gathered from communication with customers and growers with Sales, Marketing and Product Development teams.

Assist in the development of marketing materials as needed, in cooperation with the Marketing Department.

Skills and Qualifications:

1 or more years of experience as a sales representative, including experience with potential customers and cold calling.

Proven relationship builder and sales closer. Enjoys outreach on the phone and in-person.

Possesses excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through on details every time.

Strong computer skills and ability to learn new programs quickly with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to remain friendly, calm, and positive in the midst of challenging interactions.

Confidence in ability to work independently and execute complicated tasks without intensive supervision.

A collaborative attitude towards team work.

Willingness to ask questions and respond constructively to feedback.

Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a rapidly growing work environment.

Sense of humor and positive attitude.

Willingness to travel and represent HMOS at tradeshows and in-store visits

Experience with farming, gardening, and/or food business preferred.
