Cost of Production Online Resources

  • Field Crop Cost of Production—NOFA-VT, along with NOFA New Hampshire and NOFA Mass, has worked with 30 organic vegetable growers to determine the cost of production of vegetables commonly grown in the Northeast. The results were used to produce five crop factsheets on potatoes, onions, carrots, winter squash, and lettuce,  as well as crop profitability comparisons, whole-farm financial metrics, tips for success when undertaking the cost of production analysis, and a blank copy of the cost of production workbook.
  • Greenhouse Crops Cost of Production—In 2018, NOFA-VT worked with 9 organic farms in Vermont to track and analyze unheated greenhouse tomato-specific costs of production. This research has culminated in four factsheets that aggregate and present the results of this work.
