DISHWASHER AND KITCHEN ASSISTANT

The Dishwasher and Kitchen Assistant position is ideal for a high school student or someone looking for part-time work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include:

QUALIFICATIONS
No experience necessary. Training will be provided.

ASSISTANT BAKER
May - December
20 hrs/wk
The farm kitchen prepares fresh baked bread, pastries, rolls, cookies, coffee cakes, tarts, quiches, muffins, and scones for the farmstand and Hello Café daily. We highlight our in-season fruits and vegetables and pride ourselves on using local and organic ingredients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparing the morning bake (cookies, muffins, bread)
Preparing backstock of doughs (cookie, pie & pizza doughs)
Assisting the Lead Baker with pies, teacakes, bars, rolls and other baking tasks
Maintaining a clean, neat and organized work station
Following all established safety and health inspection protocols

QUALIFICATIONS
Prior bread baking, pastry or professional kitchen experience is preferred but we will train the right person. The ideal candidate works well with a team, is creative, can work early mornings and is excited to bake with the seasons. Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs and be comfortable spending a full shift on their feet.
The position is for 2-3 days per week, including weekend days if necessary.

FULL-SEASON KITCHEN STAFF

Full and part-time positions are available in our farm kitchen, May through December. The growing season on the farm provides a fantastic assortment of organic fruits and vegetables to work with daily.

MORNING PRODUCTION CREW

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Morning Production Crew is responsible for harvesting fruit and vegetables on the farm as well participating in other farm activities including planting, weeding, watering and learning. Spend a half day working with the farm team while having ample time to enjoy the rest of your summer! If you are willing to learn, work hard, and enjoy being outside, this is a great summer job!

Applicants must be at least 15 years old on their first day of work. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks while standing or kneeling. This position requires working five days a week – which includes occasional weekend work. Preference is given to applicants who can start work as soon as school ends or before (strawberry harvesting on weekends is available before school ends in June). This is a great opportunity for high school and college students who are home for the summer.

COMPENSATION
This is a seasonal position, 25+/- hours per week from June through August. The morning production crew member is an hourly position with benefits including sick time accrual, fresh produce, and a discount to our farm stand. Salary is $14-17/hr depending on work experience and ability to operate farm vehicles on and off the road.

ABOUT THE POSITION
As a member of our summer production crew, you will join our team for the summer and work within all aspects of our farming operation to further Cedar Circle Farm’s mission promoting organic, regenerative farming and a localized food economy. While cultivating our production fields and high tunnels, your responsibilities include propagation house work, hand weeding and hoeing, transplanting, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and field work with appropriate implements. You will have the opportunity to learn about commercial berry production, hothouse tomato growing, organic vegetable production, and to be a part of a welcoming team!

Contribute to pest management efforts through row cover management and release of beneficial insects
Support production systems for specific specialty crops (e.g., strawberries, tomatoes)
Harvest, Post-Harvest Handling, and processing
Harvest of produce efficiently and consistently for a variety of market needs
Maintain a high standard for food safety at all steps of harvest and post-harvest handling
Work in the processing area, including receiving and processing produce
General Farm Team Responsibilities

Work in compliance with food safety regulations and worker safety protocols

Black Dirt Farm is an agroecological farm in Stananrd. We collect discarded food from off of the farm, which then kicks of a series of integrated enterprises on the farm, including raising laying hens for eggs and meat, making compost and worm castings, and growing crops. This Route Operator position will operate two of our food scrap collection routes. The Route Operator's task is largely conducted off of the farm, collecting discarded food from 15-25 customers each days (75-95 containers on average). We do this in a Ford 550 towing a 10-yard dump trailer equipped with a hydraulic lift that picks up and dumps the containers into the trailer. The Route Operator screens each container for trash, and washes them with a pressure washer. The Route Operator is a carbon-crusader, capturing food scraps to build soil with and bank carbon to prevent the further accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This is an exciting and dynamic job for those who welcome hard work and like to see outcomes from their work.
