In this hands-on class herbalist and Red Wagon staff member Sophie Cassel will talk about timing the harvest, setting yourself up for success, troubleshooting, and different methods for drying and processing the leaves, stems and flowers of medicinal herbs. The queer botany series, presented by Kat Consler, invites LGBTQIA+ folks and allies to explore the plant world through a queer lens and inspires to bring this knowledge into their own botanizing and gardening practices. We will learn some basic botany and explore our relationship with plants. The classes are interactive and designed for experienced gardeners and budding plant nerds alike. Every winter Red Wagon staff member Chad Donovan spends hours researching, investigating, and purchasing trees and shrubs for RWP, and you’re invited to see which ones made the cut. He’ll go over size and spacing, cultural notes, general maintenance, seasonal interest, and common pests and diseases. Over the course of two hours there will be tons of info presented, but please feel free to come with your questions and to get help to find the perfect plant for that “one” spot in your garden.
