We will learn some basic botany and explore our relationship with plants. The classes are interactive and designed for experienced gardeners and budding plant nerds alike. Every winter Red Wagon staff member Chad Donovan spends hours researching, investigating, and purchasing trees and shrubs for RWP, and you’re invited to see which ones made the cut. He’ll go over size and spacing, cultural notes, general maintenance, seasonal interest, and common pests and diseases. Over the course of two hours there will be tons of info presented, but please feel free to come with your questions and to get help to find the perfect plant for that “one” spot in your garden. We will discuss how to take care of your planter and which herbs can be planted into the ground and/or be brought indoors at the end of the summer. In this workshop Jacob Holzberg-Pill will offer a broad overview on many different types of vegetative propagation: crown division, root cuttings, scaling, tip layering, softwood and hardwood cuttings. In this hands on workshop we will explore which asexual techniques work best for different species and genera. Participants will practice some of these techniques and take home plants!
